Another passion is composing and producing music for film and theater. Miguel acquired these skills during a period when he was a full-time composer and producer of national and international music productions for radio and television. For Stella Den Haag, he composed two productions with Marielle Woltring: “Werner eet zijn schoen op” (Werner Eats His Shoe) and “Niemand Weet…” (Nobody Knows…).
For the international production (KRO, Ketnet, and TV3 Catalunia) “Picknick with Cake,” an animated series based on the book of the same name by Thé Tjong King, Miguel composed each of the 13 episodes in a different style, matching the respective main animal. The series won the Cinekid Kinderkast Fiction Jury Prize in 2013 and is broadcast in eight countries. The beautiful stop-motion animated film “Dag Meneer de Vries,” directed by Mascha Halberstad, is a resounding success and moves every viewer with its beautiful story and music that strikes just the right chord. He composed the score for Erik van Schaaik’s “Under the Apple Tree,” a stop-motion horror comedy that won numerous awards, including the Golden Calf for Best Animated Film.
